Crazy Nazi Scientist

So, I went home around a week ago, and I found my mom had put all the artwork that was under our couch in my bedroom. Let me tell you, that couch accumulated a lot of artwork. I spend like an hour and a half going through it and looking at all the old drawings. There were drawing from my brother and me. It was GREAT! I found this sweet drawing my brother did a long time ago when he was in high school. This sweet guy in a spaceship with like squid legs. I really wanted to draw my own rendition of him, so I did...well I am working on it.

Drawing by: Ryan Eggebrecht
(My inspiration)
When I started sketching my version, I thought the guy Ryan drew was a mad scientist. I started sketching out a crazier looking scientist. Then, I thought that the Nazi's had crazy scientists trying to create crazy weapons and things. Anyway, that is how I thought they were portrayed in movies, right! So, I decided to turn him into a Nazi scientist.

Final Line Drawing
I wasn't sure what medium to finish him in. I thought about paint, either acrylic or gouache. My teacher told me gouache, but I ended up just going digital. So, after scanning the line drawing in, I did a couple value studies.
Then, after picking the value study I like the best, I overlayed color in Photoshop, so it would still look ruffly and have that same value if desaturated. I decided to go with the bottom one. I really like the red squid legs for some reason.
I am just now working on finalizing the color study. I need to go into it more and add some textures, highlight, and shadow. There is still lots of work that needs to be done. I should have it finished by next week. Hopefully! I am also working on finalizing two other projects that I will post later when I have more progress done. So PEACE!
