Focusing on Concept Art

First off, I just finished my online portfolio website the other night. I whipped this bad boy out in one night, oh yea. I made it so you scroll through the art, rather than clicking thumbnails and waiting for them to load. I also design other peoples websites, so if you need a site, I am pretty cheap and have lots of experience.

Ok so back to the artwork, since talking to the man Dave Chow (thats my shout out DC <-- your nickname) he pulled me back into reality. He reminded me that I have to stay realistic with my work. I am now working more realistic but am also keeping a little bit of the Wesley goodness. I am working on a Humpty Dumpty illustration and that is what the sketches are. The others are kinda just for fun, practicing my digital painting and trying to start pushing myself in the concept art area. Eat it.

Kara's Cute Goodness

Kara wanted me to draw her something sweet and cute for Valentine's Day. I know it is a little past Valentine's Day but here it is. I am going to print it out and give it to her tomorrow. I usually don't do cute, so it was kinda hard to get the face to look cute and cuddly. She also loves butterflies, so I threw in some glowing white ones along with a nice carving in the tree.

I am working on lots of digital paintings at the moment so soon I will have more. I am working on a digital collaboration with Matt Byle and am thinking about posting the progress. I also am working on a Historical figure painting and some for fun studies and things.

No Farms for Young Kids

Here's a painting I just did tonight from 3 am to 6 am. I was looking around and found this tutorial on how Carlos Cabrera digital paints and I decided to give it a try. Here's the link to the tutorial. Then I couldn't think of what to do so I whipped this giant book of photos out and found this kid standing with a sling shot and ripped it out and sketch up. I made the kid holding a AK. Then I needed an environment and decided he looked like a farm boy, so BAM I put a farm in with falling asteroids or something. Hope you enjoy. Time for me to go to bed. Spray Paint the Vegetables

This is going to be a large download, lots of stuff to throw up. I have been really busy trying to finish assignments and still make time to work on my own shit. I am starting to like my paintings lately, keeping them sketchy. Eat your face off.

This is a collaboration piece done by Matt and I. Matt drew it out in his sketchbook then I scanned it and colored it. This is for the Perspective Magazine.

This crazy polar bear guy is a drawing I was suppose to do a long time ago for Jillian.

This is for character development. We had to make creepy characters that where terrorizing the hallways. We had to mount them on foam core then cut them out. That sucked.

Quantum Physics

Here's a quick Photoshop painting of a sketch from my sketchbook. I really need to start putting environments in my drawings and paintings. Here's a test run. I like it for a quick painting.

Fun in the Sun.

Here are some collaborations Matt and I finished. The topic is like pet and master. They will all have a creature or pet (drawn by Matt Byle) and then a master that looks like the pet (drawn by Me). We are hoping to do at least 25, all pencil on paper, 8 1/2 by 11. They will be for sale, so I know you all want one. You can see them all at Art Insomniacs blog (collaboration blog). This digital painting from life. This is the first time I've drawn someone from life using the computer and a tablet. It was kinda fun; I definitely want to do more if it, just need models. hint* Model for this one was Jenny Nilsson.

A Tooth with No Name

Here's a comic I did last semester that I never uploaded. Instead of just throwing the image up as a long comic like, I did with the Pop Rat and I decided to make it, so you could flip through it. I worked pretty hard on this, but I am not sure if I really like the outcome. I had much higher hopes for it but not enough time. Maybe next year.

Also, I am throwing up some sketches and then there is this very special piece that Matt Byle and I are working on. We are actually working on a pretty large painting right now, but you will see that later on. The one I am showing you now is the collaboration that is going to be a on going project for a couple weeks. We have a piece of illustration board that we bought and we are going to treat it like a sketchbook page. We'll grab it and draw on it whenever. We are also going to be painting on it and doing what every we please. It is just going to build up and be a sweet piece of art when we are finished. I will be taking pictures along the way so you can see it being built up.
